800 Days Later
... & our HONEST opinion on New Zealand

April 20th, 2017

       438 DAYS!!
2weeks left in what is commonly known as Middle-Earth.

And as much as this country has the amazing scenery, the dramatic landscape, and the surreal surroundings, we are looking forward in leaving New Zealand.

Unfortunately enough to say, we started off with a rough patch, but everything turned out amazing, we met great and unforgettable people, made memories and shot picturesque photos, experienced new working situations (from farms, to housekeepers to receptionists) and with the amount of activities we've done, it could not have treated us any better!

However, and please bear in mind that we feel sad and somewhat scared of being judged in saying this, New Zealand is not what we thought it was. It is not the safe haven we imagined, and like every other country with it's negativeness, this unfortunately came as a surprise to us and shocked us.

There is a high-rate of poverty. There is not enough help available. The basic wage vs outcome doesn't make any sense especially if you have a family and a home, and basic needs such as bread and milk are expensive. Travelers are also a target for money making, and all the government sees is money, money, money, and what to think of next to rip off tourists.

There is a high rate of crime, murder and assault, and realistically, selfish powerful people are destroying the beaches and landscape, exporting all the good local stuff, and absolutely the total opposite of what they advertise as '100% PURE New Zealand'. A holiday here is different than living here. And we were grateful enough to see the reality of such a country, a pity, but it shows you that every country has it's own problems, a true eye-opener when traveling.
And we do not wish to discourage you from traveling such a country, we just would like the truth to be out there, and not let your guards down thinking it is one of the safest countries in the world.
Travelers need to be aware that NEW ZEALAND is just like any other country...

But that is enough preaching, NOW, let us enjoy the last few days working hard, with the car finally

sold, and move on to Asia, starting off in Kuala Lumpur - Malaysia, where we have no set plans,

nothing booked, and no idea of route we are going to take! All we know is:
Travel till the money lasts...

AND let us say we have managed to save up quite a lot these past 6months.

But that is the true adventure, traveling in the unknown, and we are so glad to have all of your

support and show you the world through our eyes!

Thank you!

Have YOU ever visited a country and it wasn't what you expected ?
