Shotover Canyon Swing

Place: Queenstown, New Zealand
Visited: 7th October 2016

After much debating of which company to go with, and which activity to choose, we feel we hit a lucky jackpot with Shotover Canyon Swing.

Queenstown being on our bucket list after learning it is the Extreme Sports Capital of the World, we HAD to do at least ONE activity. Walking along the streets, not sure which activity to use, which company is not a rip-off, and which is well worth our limited money, this company has made our dreams come true!

From reception, to the driver, to the Managers, to the guys whose job is to push you off a cliff, and till the final lady who sells the videos and pictures, we cannot thank them enough for their patience (until we decided which package to choose), support (after being terrified whilst standing on the edge of the cliff), smiles and understanding (whilst deciding which pictures and videos to take) and offer great knowledge and what seems best FOR US!

Diving at the Poor Knights Islands

Stopping by the Office in Shotover Street, Queenstown, we booked ourselves an adventure for $229 per person. Getting ourselves weighed,we got our wristbands, watched the adrenaline videos, and was driven by Jack to the Canyon. 10minuted later, we arrived at the spot, walked 200m and arrived at our doom - the 109m cliff drop and swing. After a few briefs and safety guidelines, we were lead to the jumping point. Being a group of only 9 people, after Kirsten and Leon' individual forward jump, we decided to do a Tandem jump for just an additional of $45 per person. A 3-sec freefall, but feels a life-long, we were swung forwards, taking in the beautiful canyon scene and the cloudless sky, and attepted the Gimpy goes to Hollywood, hanging upside down and being dropped.

Unlike the usual company out there who are just focused on money-making, Shotover Canyon Swing went by our needs and what seemed would suit us. We cannot thank them enough for such a great experience, the free T-Shirt, the jump and company whilst waiting to face our fears, and video-watching in the van whilst being driven back to the Office.

A true gem <3 Well done to all, and those behind the scenes!

Has anyone else done this? What other heart-pumping, adrenaline-rush activity have you done?
