Yukon Dive! Charters

The view after surfacing from a dive known as The Lost World.
Place: Tutukaka, New Zealand
Visited: 5th March 2016

After a long awaited treat, we HAD to dive at the famous Poor Knight's Islands - Rated as one o the top-ten dive sites around the world, so we had to make sure we will invest our money properly.

Finding two companies which dived in the area, we preferred going with the one which advertised itself as family-run, rather than just the company-run. We were, in fact, quite happy with the outcome!

First contact - Calling to enquire about the tour and prices, Jo was very helpful with discussing our options,
and had no problem at all with us even after spending a year not diving. (Also accepted a non-PADI
certification (TDI/SDI) as we heard some companies do not accept). Meeting with the crew at around 08:30,
all the hired equipment felt up to very good standard, clean and everything was dealt professionally and
safe, and after filling out our forms, we departed at 09:07.

Everyone was so knowledgeable, including the Skipper, and the boat was very clean and well-taken care of.
We were not a big group (maybe 20?), and got to know everyone quickly. We were mixed between
beginners, and with people with over 1000+ dives, so also felt very safe in case of emergencies. Our only
concern was that all the equipment was dealt with the crew, which was great to an extent to leave us enjoy
the scenery, and we basically just had to leave it up to them to change our cylinders etc. between dives and after. We were quite skeptic at first, however they did look like what they knew what they were doing, and quickly relaxed and made use of their complimentary refreshments on board (tea, coffee, fresh water, and soups).

Our tour guide was beyond amazing! Even though at a point she did wander off, and left one of the team (we were groups of 4)                                                        behind as she could not equalize, you would expect that as certified divers we do not need a 'babysitter' watching our every                                                              step. She did have a lot of patience, explained things in detail, pointed out stuff under the sea, and allowing us extra time if we                                                        had more oxygen left.

Hideaway Bay/ Dutchman's Cove and Jan's Tunnel/ Lost World dive sites were indeed great! It was not overcrowded by boats,                                                           and everyone went their separate ways according to their respective experience. The instrument played in the RicoRico Cave                                                             was an additional bonus to understand what they meant with the sound being better than the Sydney Opera House. Departing                                                       at 15:30, and arriving at 16:45, the experience was an unforgettable moment, and even though we still felt the cruise to be                                                                 slightly expensive, we were still happy to have made the right choice.
